According to The Nature Conservancy, a carbon footprint is "the total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by our actions." Currently, the average American produces roughly 16 tons of carbon per year with a global average of 4 tons annually. As global warming and climate change continue to impact our world, it's up to everyone to make changes that leave a positive impact today and set up a sustainable society for generations to come.
SeedSpark has partnered with the Web Neutral Project to offset the total electricity used by the website servers, network infrastructure, and end-user devices that make up our carbon footprint by reinvesting resources into positive change. Through our partnership, SeedSpark is benefiting Cup of the Amazon. This project focuses on the protection and reforestation of an area twice the size of New York City by creating new jobs that focus on coffee harvesting and ecosystem services rather than logging. This project stood out to our team because not only does it offset our carbon footprint, it also works to give back to the community around Peru's Alto Mayo to help build a better, greener future today and for future generations.
While each individual contribution that individuals and companies make may seem small on their own, it's the collective effort of our society that comes together to make a lasting impact on our world. As the digital world continues to grow, so does its carbon footprint. SeedSpark is proud to work with Web Neutral Project to not only offset the impact that we have on our ecosystem but also give back to efforts that work to make the world itself a better and greener place to live.
